WHAT IS JUST DESIGN?
Just Design is a 48-hour, virtual designathon created by a team of students from UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz. Here, students can express their passion and skills through design to create solutions they feel empowered about.

WHAT IS A DESIGNATHON?
A designathon is an event where designers can translate user problems into design solutions over a span of a few days. Students from all around gather to create creative, unique, and innovative projects centralized around a certain theme. Our theme revolves around social justice due to the need we see for creating positive social change in communities around the world. There will be speakers, a panel and many educational workshops you can attend to learn more about design and UI/UX with leaders from the industry.
WHY "JUST DESIGN"?
As designers we have the responsibility of creating meaningful design that is beneficial, accessible and user-friendly for all. Ironically, design is not just design. It’s more than that– it’s creating solutions for a better world, a world that is more just.

WHEN IS THE APPLICATION DEADLINE?
The deadline to sign up is September 11th, 2020.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
This event is open to any students currently attending a university within the United States and Canada. You will be required to sign up using your university email, email@youruniversity.edu.
HOW MUCH EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
Just Design is for anyone interested in using design to address critical issues happening in society today. You do not need any design experience to participate in this event. Come join us in learning, collaborating and designing for change.
WHAT CAN I DESIGN?
You can design a prototype for a website, app, or anything else you desire using your favorite design tool. The official prompt will be released during the Opening Ceremony so don’t miss out!
WHAT IF I DON'T HAVE A TEAM OR IDEA?
That’s completely okay! We will be hosting socials so you can meet other people as well as have a Slack channel where you can introduce yourself & your interests and find or make a team.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Just Design is completely free to attend! Our goal is to share design resources and education with as many people as possible.
We are running a fundraiser to donate to a local grassroots organization, the Black Organization Project. Our suggested donation amount is $5 to the Venmo @justdesignathon. Check out our fundraiser page to learn more.
